Reshevsky Loses Twice
In the recently completed tournament for the U.S. Chess Championship, both Bobby Fischer and Samuel Reshevsky won eight of their 13 games. The difference was that Fischer drew his remaining five, whereas Reshevsky was defeated twice.
In the decisive games Reshevsky was opposed by two youthful New Yorkers, James T. Sherwin and William Lombardy. Each developed a powerful King side assault against which the grandmaster could find no sufficient defense.
