Chess-Interzonal Tournament
The Russian champion Tal has begun well in the world championship interzonal tournament with wins against de Greif and Szabo. After two rounds, he is half a point ahead of Benko, Olafsson, Petrosian, and the 15-year-old United States champion Fischer, who beat Fuster and drew with Neikirch.
Bronstein, Larsen, Panno, and Gligoric have all drawn their first two games, but Szabo has started badly by losing to Olafsson as well as to Tal.
