Reshevsky Wins; Gains Tie in Chess
New York, Dec. 28—Samuel Reshevsky, America's international chess star, tightened the race Sunday in the United States tournament for the Rosenwald trophy at the Marshall Chess club by defeating Larry Evans, former United States champion and grandmaster. Reshevsky won his seventh round game in 39 moves.
Evans, in sustaining his first defeat, now is in a triple tie for second place with Reshevsky and Arthur B. Bisguier each with four won and two lost. Bobby Fischer of Brooklyn continues in first place with 4½ won against 1½ lost.
